07.12.07 // 9:10 pm My new bodyguard
As you know, I've been doing some work for Joe Lauzon, a fighter in the UFC. I'm proud to say that both Joe & I have worked hard on joelauzon.com, so go check it out!

06.10.07 // 9:44 pm Summertime, and the living's easy
Happy June to all. Just wanted to say a quick hello. I've got some fun side projects that I'm currently involved with... nothing finalized as of yet. However, you can check out a new logo that I did for UFC fighter Joe Lauzon in the portfolio section. There's plenty more Lauzon-related design coming soon. Enjoy the weather!

03.08.07 // 8:49 pm Long time, no see!
It's certainly been a while since I last blogged. I've made a few updates here and there. There's a new project in the portfolio section (Flash) and new Netflix reviews in the video section. And if you never saw them the first time, check out the dozens of pictures and videos from my '06 Hiltonhead trip.

And be aware, there's a whole new website coming later in 2007.

06.21.06 // 9:30 pm Portfolio
Added a new project to the portfolio section.

04.23.06 // 9:19 pm Netflix
I took the Netflix plunge. Check out my reviews here.

04.03.06 // 10:21 pm Projects updated
Rearranged the portfolio section and added a couple of projects. Enjoy!

03.19.06 // 12:47 pm It's been a while
Long time since I've said hi. Life is busy, but good. I'm hoping to get some new projects up soon.

09.26.05 // 7:33 pm FORE!
New photos from Ridder Farm & Country Club in the pics section.

08.07.05 // 9:48 pm August is crazy-go-nuts
Unfortunately, the next episode of The Gunner Chronicles might be delayed even more. These next few weeks are uber-busy with other design stuff, not to mention another two weeks of madness at work. Oh yeah, and I have to find a new place to live. It's all a blur, and I'm not happy that The Gunner Chronicles is getting pushed to the back of the bus. But it is, so you'll just have to deal with it. The big event coming up, of course, is the 2005 HMWL Playoffs. The games are next weekend, and there will be plenty of coverage the week following the games. Design for wiffleball takes precedence over design for Gunner these next few weeks. Sorry again.

08.05.05 // 1:19 pm New stuff
I tossed some new stuff in the portfolio. Two of 'em are under the N Magazine link, while the other is an advertisement. Also, if you're bored, you can check out the playoffs section of the wiffleball league page.

08.01.05 // 10:37 pm I heart Linc
A genius day on the Cape with the Linc today. He, Lara and I spent the day being ridiculous, as per usual. There should be a few pics next week. Vote Linc in '08.

07.27.05 // 9:00 pm Dweeb alert
Well, after almost three months of brain activity, the first episode of "The Gunner Chronicles" (link removed) has come to fruition. I'm real happy with the outcome. I've found that the file will run a bit differently on different internet browsers, but I think it will be minor in the long run.

I've decided to wait two weeks until releasing the next episode. The next few weeks at work are going to have some late nights. Plus, it gives me time to get a head start on episodes three, four, and beyond. Hopefully, after episode two, I can start cranking these guys out every Wednesday.

I still don't have voices set in stone for the various characters that will come out over the next few episodes, so let me know if you're interested in doing some voice work.

Go check it out!!! (link removed)

07.21.05 // 11:29 pm It's almost time!
There's only six days left until "The Gunner Chronicles" premieres! I'm jacked. Don't forget to be at JHcreative at 9 pm EST on Wednesday the 27th. On a related note, don't get your hopes up too high for the Gunner. The artwork and "animation" are very simplistic, but hey, it's a fun project for me to do in the summer. And to pretend I'm a comic book geek. See you Wednesday!

06.12.05 // 9:15 pm I heart Mother Nature
Well, the weather is finally gorgeous on the Cape. Been shooting lots of hoops and workin' on the tan. Beach visits will begin in 2 weekends. Won-dah-ful.

Also of note, there are some new N Magazine spreads in my portfolio.

And FINALLY, I've picked a premiere date for "The Gunner Chronicles" (link removed). It will begin Wednesday, July 27th at 9 pm. You'll be able to view a brand new episode every Wednesday after that for as long as I run the first season (between 10 and 13 episodes). In the meantime, go download the wallpaper (link removed) I added.

Out!

05.22.05 // 6:43 pm Folio-tastic
Just a small update to the portfolio – I added a spread from N Magazine, a big project at work. They are a great client and I've been able to do some great layouts for them. More to come soon.

Also, just as a heads-up, preliminary sketches for "The Gunner Chronicles" (link removed) have begun. It will probably not be a long time until the premiere, but the wheels are in motion.

05.01.05 // 4:54 pm May Day!
Happy first day of May. Let's hope that this heinous string of rain ends and we can get some sunshine going. Apologies for the gap in blogs lately. My life is still in extreme explosion mode. The main reason I'm blogging today concerns my first "post college/I'm still a total dweeb" side project. More and more, I'm intrigued by cartoons and animation (i.e. Samurai Jack and Sin City).

So...I've decided to come up with my own spin on animation. My version is animation meets graphic design meets video editing.

I can't tell you much. The series is entitled "The Gunner Chronicles" and will follow the main character of Gunner in his journeys as a sort of bounty hunter. The grandiose plan sees me creating 10 episodes this summer. Here's hoping. Until then, you'll have to just enjoy the teaser (link removed). It's not much, but at least can provide the dark, foreboding mood I'm shooting for. Until next time, enjoy.

04.19.05 // 7:26 pm A schload of items
All right, so it's been a good week and a half since I've blogged. First off, I would like to promote Uncle Ben's bagged ready rice. I know this sounds random, but I need to tell you about this amazing product. So here's what you do: you push on the bag to separate the rice, then cut a slit for ventilation, then nuke it for 90 seconds. NINETY SECONDS! And you have rice all ready to go! Absolutely unbelievable. Try it out...it's easy and it tastes good.

Secondly, the early report on the job is good. I've been uber-busy with design work, but it's good to be designing full-time again. I may get a second job at a local golf course. I'll keep you posted.

The crappy news is that I have to move again. The kid who lives with me and owns the house is suddenly selling the property so I have to hit the road within the next few months. Hopefully I can get that taken care of soon.

As for other shout-outs, make sure to tune in to good buddy Pat Riley with the Kannapolis Intimidators. Riles does play by play for this single A ballclub in North Carolina. You can view the team website and listen to him live here.

While I'm at it, I'll link you to Matt Lincoln's TV station as well. Gotta give him and Riles the equal treatment I assume. Check out the ridiculous picture and bio of him here. Sweet tie buddy!

In a completely unrelated story, little brother Craig shot a 68 at Ridder's today. Holy crap. Kid finished with six birdies...and he hasn't even broke in his clubs yet! Congratulations to him...this isn't an insult, but that may be the best round of golf he ever plays. Keep it up dweeb.

OK, I'm tuckered out. The Shield's on tonight. Score.

04.08.05 // 5:08 pm Oh Camry, how I loved you so
It's official. I signed over the title to the 1988 Toyota Camry today. That car was amazing. I drove it for almost five years and it somehow lasted two brutal winters in Syracuse. Granted, my new ride blows away the Camry, but the Camry was my first love. So here's hoping the Camry sees either a nice new driver or a nice trip to car heaven.

In a related story, Craig and I took wiffleball BP yesterday. Score.

Also unrelated, The Masters is on this weekend. If you're not watching, well, you're probably not a golf nerd like me.

04.06.05 // 4:55 pm Nice weather means time to move?
Well, five days from now I'll be living on my own and just finishing up my first day on the job. The pad is starting to develop into something that is livable now that I've brought down some furniture.

In an unrelated story, I finished The 2005 HMWL Preview, which you can check out on the wiffleball section of hmwl.net. I'll be talking to ya...

03.31.05 // 3:30 pm Got the ride
OK, we got ourselves a car. Check it out in the pictures section.

03.29.05 // 4:41 pm Cars are people too
OK, sorry for not updating in a while. My head has been exploding for the past week. So I found a place to live in Dennis, which is only about twenty minutes from work. The big move comes in two weekends. The big question now is whether to hang on to the Camry (still could be alive and kicking after a new muffler system) or get a brand new chick magnet (which actually costs real money). I'll shop some tomorrow and hopefully have a decision soon. That's all for now.

03.20.05 // 2:31 am Lotsa stuff
First off, I'll state the obvious. My bracket is awful...much like everyone else's I know. Watching Syracuse lose was tough, but I'll get over it.

More importantly, I would like to formally announce that yours truly will soon be fully employed. I recently accepted a job at Open Eye Communications (site under construction) on the Cape and will be starting very soon. Needless to say, this has been a long time coming. Let's hope all goes well there...I'm very much looking forward to designing again on a regular basis. Speaking of links to design places, look for a new links section coming soon. It will be accessible from any page.

03.15.05 // 3:20 pm The Shield
It's the best show on TV, and season 4 premiers tonight. 'Nuff said.

03.14.05 // 4:24 pm It's time to talk brackets
Well, it's that time of year...when everybody loses money because they have awful brackets. Before we get to my picks, let's address the nonsensical seeding of this year: UConn gets a #2 seed and BC (regular season co-Big East Champs) and 'Cuse (Big East Tournament Champs) both get a #4 seed? Please. And Georgia Tech, a 19-11 team gets a #5 seed? C'mon! The ACC is not that good. Anyhow, check out my picks, then laugh at them. I know I did. In a related note, I added two new projects to the portfolio.

03.13.05 // 1:49 pm Cuse-tastic
Big East Tourney champs! First time since 1992. And winner for the strangest story of the day goes to Jermaine Watson. What on earth does this mean?

03.12.05 // 5:16 pm Hey hoops!
How bout those Celtics (beat defending champ Detroit in double OT)? How bout those Orange (beat UConn in the Big East semis)? Good to see my basketball teams coming out on top with big wins. Let's hope 'Cuse can finish the task tonight against West Virginy at the world's most famous arena.

03.11.05 Chiklis is cooler than you
Holy crap. Four days until The Shield Season 4 premiere. My head might explode.

03.11.05 Big Game for the 'Cuse
The 'Cuse takes on UConn tonight. First off, I hate UConn. Secondly, 'Cuse has serious issues beating this team, especially in the Big East tournament. Hopefully they can win this one and the crown in hopes of a solid seed.

03.11.05 JHcreative goes live
It's live. Welcome to JHcreative, the home to all things Justin Hastings. There will be frequent updates (I would assume most of them in the blog), but feel free to click around to all areas. While I'm still working on different sections, you can take a peek at the Poker Tracker and the Downloads.
