Craig Hastings & Fred Rogers won the 2004 HMWL Championship.

Let's get it on!
August 5 , 2005 | By Justin Hastings

After a summer of hard work, it's all come down to this: the 2005 HMWL Playoffs. For the first time ever, the league will feature three teams in the postseason instead of two. There will be the first round series played on Saturday, August 13th. The winner of that advances to the championship series on Sunday, the 14th.

Here's the breakdown of how the teams were created. First off, the original qualifying numbers have been reduced. For players to qualify, you needed to participate in at least seven games and throw at least eight innings. Because of everyone's busy summer, those numbers unfortunately had to be reduced.

Fred Rogers earned the #1 seed for achieving the best regular season record (10-3). Tom Horan would have been the #2 seed with his 4-2 record. However, Horan will be unavailable to play in the postseason, so the remaining players have all been moved up one spot. That leaves the actual #2 spot to Will Kenney (9-7). Because Rogers and Kenney boast the two best regular season records, they will become teammates and receive an automatic spot in Sunday's HMWL Championship.

The remaining four spots were determined by individual performance. The #3 seed was Justin Hastings, followed by TJ Collins at #4, Rich McMackin at #5, and Craig Hastings rounds out the competitors at #6.

Justin & Craig will be teamed together, while TJ & Rich will form another squad. Since Justin & Craig have a better combined regular season record (11-15) than TJ & Rich (6-12), the brothers Hastings earn home-field advantage in the playoffs' opening round.
