Rogers dominates all day long
June 1 , 2005 | By Justin Hastings

Just dominating Opening Day isn't enough for Fred Rogers. Just winning two HMWL Championships clearly isn't enough either. Rogers made yet another explosive day-long performance on May 14.

The day featured another three-pack of HMWL games. Craig Hastings got tattooed in game one, yielding seven runs to the team of Fred Rogers and Will Kenney.

Rogers highlighted the run scoring outburst with two homers. On the other side, Fred Rogers comfortably pitched through another outing, striking out 4 and yielding zero runs.

Rogers would be the star yet again in game two of the day. In addition to chucking another 3-inning shutout, Rogers’s team of he and Craig Hastings would defeat McMackin and Kenney 2-0 after Rogers’s 2-run triple in the 2nd.

Fred Rogers made it a 3-peat of clutch performances in game three.

Rogers finally folded and gave up two runs in the top of the first to the team of McMackin and Kenney. Rogers settled down, working out of two jams to keep Rich and Will at two.

On the offensive side, Rogers and teammate Craig Hastings nipped away at the pitching of Rich McMackin, getting RBI-singles in both the first and second innings. McMackin gave way to Kenney to pitch in the third, but Kenney failed to record an out.

After loading the bases, Rogers singled home the game-winning run, giving he and Craig a 3-2 victory.

Fred Rogers continued his utter annihilation of the HMWL. After the first game, Rogers had tallied 8 homers on the year. The total already equals the league lead (Will Kenney) from the 2004 and places him tied for 4th all-time for most homers in a season.

Rogers has also quickly rushed out to a stellar 4-1 record from the hill. That is a much better record than the unfortunate 2-8 record of 2004, where Rogers received little to no run support.
