The
2005 season continued its streak of 1-run games on May 17th.
In game one, Will Kenney and Craig Hastings defeated Rich
McMackin and Fred Rogers, 1-0. Kenney scatted two hits across
three innings for the shutout.
Hastings provided the only offense needed, with an RBI-single
in the home half of the first off Fred Rogers. Kenney fielded
two grounders in the final frame for the victory.
Game two featured a crazy amount of baserunners, but yielded
yet another one-run game.
McMackin stepped to the hill yet again, but not for long.
McMackin allowed five straight baserunners in the first to
give Craig Hastings and Will Kenney an early 3-0 lead. McMackin
would give the ball to Fred Rogers to end the first inning.
Craig Hastings had a good pitching outing going until the
3rd, where he allowed a 3-run homer to McMackin, sending the
game into extra frames.
By that time, Rogers had found a groove after allowing four
baserunners in the 2nd and 3rd innings. The game headed to
the home half of the fifth, with the game still tied, and
Craig Hastings still on the mound.
There, McMackin would provide more heroics. He hit a walk-off
solo homer to give he and Rogers a 4-3 win.

McMackin hit two home runs on the day, one a game winner.
McMackin hit 7 home runs in all of 2004, in only 50 at bats.
Craig Hastings, throughout much of this young 2005 season,
has been known as the RBI-single machine. If there's a guy
in scoring position, Hastings will most likely knock him in. |
