Rogers does it again
June 1, 2005 | By Justin Hastings

Yet another 3 games were on tap on Memorial Day, May 30th. The youngn’s took the veterans to school in game one.

There, Justin Hastings could not compete with Will Kenney from the mound. Kenney scattered three hits across three innings as neither Hastings nor teammate Rich McMackin could bring home a run.

On the flipside, Hastings was lucky enough to only allow two runs in his two innings of work. Hastings allowed a season-high five hits, including an RBI-triple in the first to brother Craig. Kenney and Craig Hastings would win the game, 2-0.

In game two, Will Kenney knotched another win from the hill, as he and Justin Hastings beat Craig Hastings and Rich McMackin, 6-0.

McMackin started the game from the hill and successfully worked out of a jam in the first after loading the bases and allowing only run.

However, a flustered McMackin failed to consistenly find the strike zone in the 2nd inning, allowing five runs, including a grand slam by J.Hastings. From there, Kenney and Hastings would cruise to a 6-0 victory.

Continuing the running theme of the year, Fred Rogers delivered even more heroics in game three of the day.

After yielding two runs in the away half of the third, Rogers made his bid for play of the year when he tracked down a ball in the mulch…then threw it through the trees in SingleVille, only to succesfully roll and hit the home plate board, beating Rich McMackin home and saving a run. It would prove costly.

In the home half of the fourth, Rogers and Craig Hastings would finally get to Will Kenney. Rogers scored two after a 2-run triple. Hastings would dust off the game, continuing his hot hitting with a game-winning RBI-single. Hastings and Rogers would defeat Kenney and McMackin, 3-2.
TJ Collins, seemingly out of nowhere, earned two victories from the bump. Prior to the gameday, Collins had a disturbing ERA of 42.00. But after his two strong performances, Collins quickly cut it to a very impressive 3.18.

Despite a strong performance, Craig Hastings failed to pick up his first win of the year, falling to a disappointing 0-6. Hastings has had some arm sorness of late and the entire league is greatly aware that his best pitching will come in the season's second half.
